Despite the fact that the Dutch don't wear happens, cycling there is much safer than in the US.the big difference is that the motorists there are just bicyclists in another vehicle. As a result, there is a respect and empathy for cyclists there that just doesn't exist in most US cities. On my bike commute in Austin, I'm greeted with open hostility by motorists, even when I'm on the frickin sidewalk! You don't see that in the Netherlands.

And what's so unsafe about riding a bicycle? If you learn it on early age and you're careful and the cars, busses and other forms of transportation are used to having bikes all around, it's not so unsafe as you might think.

@ around 2:50; You don't need a licence to drive a bicycle. But at primary schools there are bicycle safety programs held almost every year.

haha.. u think finding parking is hard in the states. try parking a bike on a busy street in amsterdam.

haha, probably Japan will win over both of them. Their culture is more trendy and their bicycles are nicer. Mamacharis rule.Best part, much fewer stolen bicycles.
